The problem I believe is the fee structure. In China a contractor gets paid by area covered by the structure he delivers. This is wrong.
A 5,000 sq. m tent and a 500 sq. m tent require exactly the same process, shape finding, analysis, member sizing, detailing and so on, both will require the same amount of time, same number of sheets have everything drafted. But the engineering fee for the 500 sq. m tent is 1/10th of the 5,000 sq. m.
There are only two possibilities to resolve this problem. 1. Ask your client for a higher engineering fee 2. Design a generic structure, so the engineering fee can be shared by multiple projects.作者:
