脊索应该是主要是受力索的了，而谷索主要是起到稳定性，当然了这不是绝对的，有时候二者在结构中扮演的角色正好相反（比如：反向风载下）

关于脊索和谷索还有环索你可以去找一下“大跨空间结构的新型式──张拉索穹顶结构”这个论文，是沈祖炎的弟子做的分析，里面讲的应该可以让你明白很多。维普上面有。

脊索和谷索 are direct translation from Ridge Cable & Valley Cable. Ridge Cable is mainly to resist gravity loading while Valley Cable is to resist wind suction. At times, Ridge cable can become Valley cable under heavy wind suction.
