The Structure
Designed and engineered on the principle of the Membrane Stress Theory, the structure is the result of over two decades of intensive research and development . The Sprung Structure is a stressed membrane structure consisting of a series of aluminum arched ribs integrally connected by modular architectural membrane panels. This specialized membrane is certified flame retardant. The Sprung Structure is available in widths from 30 to 160 feet by lengths of unlimited size.

    Outside the structure, the PVDF, TEDLAR or PTFE finish creates a self-cleaning surface, maintaining a "clean as new" look and translucency throughout the life of the fabric. Inside the, the unique geometric patterning creates an optical illusion of much larger, open and free space.
    Our leading patented technology has been proven in over 2,500 worldwide installations, from the cold and windy conditions in Alaska, Northern Canada and ski areas in Colorado, to the heat and humidity of the Middle East and typhoon winds of Southeast Asia. No matter what type of Membrane Structure you need, we will identify the best solution and build it for you at the best price. Our patented systems allow for wind design of over 150 mph, the thermal/acoustical liners accommodate thoroughly effective heating and air conditioning, translucent fabrics eliminate the need for artificial lighting during daytime hours and at night our exclusive, indirect lighting system provides glare free, highly energy efficient lighting. Furthermore, the outer surface of our fabric is protected with coatings to keep the surface clean, thus maintaining translucency, and extends the life of the structure by minimizing degradation from ultraviolet rays.   杭州游泳馆网球馆是由杭州市政府投资的公用体育设施。它是目前国内最大的、全封闭式的双层膜结构工程。其造型独特起伏，如披洁白裙衫。具有保温、防结露、透气性强、节能等突出特点。整体结构轻盈飘逸，堪称城市中一道亮丽的风景线。在此工程中本公司与有关单位和专家共同制定了国内第一个膜结构工程验收标准.

我国幅员辽阔，人口众多，对大跨建筑的需求量很大。椐不完全统计，我国自1964年建成第一幢网架结构以来，截止到1997年底，建成各类大跨建筑就有9000幢，覆盖建筑面积约1000万m2  
。近年来，每年以建成800幢，覆盖面积80～100万m2 的速度在递增。另外，建筑规模增大，也反映了大跨建筑的发展趋势。1982年建成的北京地毯厂，覆盖面积4万m2  
；后来建成的天津无缝钢管厂，覆盖面积6万m2 ；长春第一汽车制造厂，覆盖面积8万m2；1995年建成的云南玉溪卷烟厂，覆盖面积达12万m2  
，比82年的规模增大了三倍。国外大跨结构的规模也越来越大。例如， 2000年英国伦敦Millennium展览会场的中心建筑，设计采用巨型圆顶结构，覆盖面积达10万m2  
，总直径360m 。随着经济发展、技术进步和对外文化交流的增进，我国大跨建筑市场规模和发展速度必然会更加迅速的扩大。另外，物质生产发展和文化生活的需要，也决定了大跨建筑必定朝着超大跨方向发展。
  
索穹顶结构是目前建筑跨度最大的结构形式，具有高技术、低造价的突出优点，索穹顶结构会在相当大的范围内逐步取代其它的结构形
式，成为今后大跨建筑结构的主要结构形式之一。
  
索穹顶结构的经济效益非常明显。美国芝加哥国会大厅采用网架结构跨度180米，耗钢量128kg/ m2;美国亚特南大乔治体育馆采用索穹顶结构，椭圆短轴长193米，耗钢量47kg/  
m2,仅占同等规模网架结构耗钢量的36.7%，节约钢材63.3%。我国上海体育馆，网架结构，直径110m，耗钢量47/m2；韩国汉城奥运会体育馆，索穹顶结构，直径120m，耗钢量14.7kg/  
m2,仅有同等规模网架结构耗钢量的31.3%,节约钢材68.7%。可见索穹顶结构的经济效益显著。
  
结合我省实际，索穹顶结构可在以下几方面推广应用：
  
1. 我省地理环境得天独厚，旅游资源丰富，旅游业的发展将成为我省的支柱产业之一，索穹顶结构造型美观，可满足各种风格的建筑要求，使用不同色调的高强膜材做屋面，可形成与山、水、森林对应的格调合谐、造型新颖的旅游建筑。
  
2．索穹顶结构技术含量高，建筑跨度大，适用于大型展览馆，娱乐中心，体育场、馆及其改扩建工程，并成为城市的标志性建筑，推动我省的城市现代化建设。
  
3．索穹顶结构还可以切合云南省经济发展的需要，为农贸市场、各类仓库、交通运输、种植花卉、及人工培育各种经济作物提供质优价廉的建筑产品，其市场十分广阔。
  
近年来，我省的大跨建筑有了很大的发展。但是，我省大跨建筑技术水平在国内也还处于比较落后的地位，从设计到施工大多数是由省外的企业或设计单位承包。这对提高我省建筑行业的技术水平、开展建筑业的市场竞争非常不利。如果能研究开发并推广应用新的大跨结构形式，我们就能在新技术领域取得优势，争取主动，打入国内和东南亚建筑市场，将我省的建筑产业提高到一个新的水平，为我省经济建设的发展做出贡献。
