This multi-purpose arena has a unique membrane roof that measures 82.8m by 82.5m. The arch reises from ground level to 42.4 meters at the center, which splits the roof into two halves. The sides of the roof are formed by concrete beams at a much lower elevation, between 15.0 meters above ground to 20.0 meters. Ridge and valley cables span between the arch and the longitudinal beams to create the saw-tooth form. Longitudinal cables are added to complete the cable network. 4.Taoyuan Sports Arena(1993)
The sports arena seats 15,000 spectators for a variety of sports and entertainment events. The facility is covered by a 136.2 m diameter tensegrity dome using the Geiger Cabledome system. The roof structure was engineered to achieve an unprecedented rapid erection/installation as dictated by Project requirements. The structure is clad with a prestressed Teflon[$#8482] coated Fiberglas[$reg] composite membrane. The roof membrane is translucent allowing sufficient natural light to preclude the necessity of artificial lighting for most daylight events. The award-winning roof structure was design/built by Taiyo Kogyo, Birdair,Inc. and Geiger Engineers. The roof was completely engineered, fabricated and erected in nominally 14 months. 作者:
