A Practical Introduction This committee report, developed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) task committee on Tensioned Fabric Structures, and edited by R.E. Shaeffer, describes the basic design principles, behavior, materials and construction process of tensioned fabric structures. Beginning with an overview of the history of the technology, the book examines the role of each participant in the project from inception through completion. The advantages and disadvantages of various methods for shape determination and analysis are addressed, as are the connections be- between the various materials and the attachments to the sup-porting structure; patterning; and the erection of the structure.
